The Maca, Lepidium meyenii scientific name, is a perennial plant, belonging to the family Brassicaceae. It grows wild in Peru, at 3000-4000m above sea level to withstand the extreme climatic conditions of the Andean region, where it is cultivated since 1600 a. C.
