Property
The acerola is the fruit of a shrub or small tree (up to 5 meters), native to the West Indies, Central America, and northern South America. The fruits are globose drupes of 1 - 2 centimeters in diameter, bright red in color vaguely resemble cherries. The edible part of the fruit contains about 14% of vitamin C (ascorbic acid and dihydroascorbic acid, the first in greater quantity). The quantity of vitamin C varies in relation to the degree of ripeness of the fruit, higher in the green fruit and lower in the completely immature fruit. For these characteristics it is useful in vitamin C deficiencies. Vitamin C is essential for the correct formation of collagen, (protein that cements connective, catilaginous, bone tissues), with antioxidant properties contributes to the control of free radicals.
Use and doses
From 400 mg to 700 mg per day - 1 - 2 capsules per day
